Greetings from KASL President

Dear Colleagues:

It is with great excitement and humility that I take on the responsibility of serving as the sixth president of the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL). For the following two years, the newly elected KASL governing board and I will work to make the KASL more forward-looking and responsive to the need of all of its members.

The KASL was founded on June 23, 1995 after years of gathering under the name of ˇ°Korean Society for the Study of Liverˇ±, which had been established on May, 1981. In a relative short period of time, the KASL had grown to be a Korean society responsible for all aspects of hepatology. This was possible only with the active participations of my predecessors, governing boards, and members.

My major goal as the president is to stimulate and support liver-related researches by the members of the KASL. I also intend to promote the globalization of the KASL. And I will work to ensure that the Korean Journal of Hepatology become a renowned national and international publication.

Public policy can never be ignored, and another goal during my presidency is to educate the public to recognize and prevent liver diseases through expansion of ˇ°Liver Dayˇ±.

Another goal during my presidency is to do my utmost to protect and promote the rights of the KASL members.

I always welcome your insights and advice as the KASL moves forward in pursuit of excellence.

Best wishes,

Dong-Jin Suh, MD
President of the Korean Association for the Study of the Liver (KASL)
